Who am I?

Hi I’m David and this is…me!

About Me

I grew up in Oxford living a well rounded life. But, like so many people, I dreamed about seeing the world. The problem was I never knew how. I was too afraid to break away from what is considered “a normal life”. But then, finally, I just followed my heart.

In 2008, I went to Italy and discovered that the Mediterranean lifestyle suits me – I needed more sunshine in my life. But even then I was still missing something: a sense of adventure, never knowing what the next day will bring, who I would meet, and what I would see. I made a decision and haven’t looked back since…

On October 1st 2013 I took the first steps on a journey which has changed my life. My original idea was to walk from Europe to India. It was a grand plan. But during the process, something changed…

“I only went out for a walk and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”

– John Muir

A Journey to the Heart Of Yoga

Step by step, the outer journey began to merge with the inner. What began as a quest ever looking outwards, soon changed to one more focused inwards. After 2 and a half years walking, I had many questions, and seemingly no way to answer them. I felt I needed a teacher, somebody with the knowledge of a world which I didn’t understand.

That’s when I found Vipassana meditation. Suddenly, I heard the words in my heart being spoken by someone else! Literally, Vipassana means to see the truth as it is.

Since 2016 my focus began to shift more to the inner journey, and this had brought me now to deeper studies of yoga, meditation and the stripping away of the layers which seem to constitute this “I”.

In 2017 I volunteered at a yoga hostel in Greece – Ellas Retreat. There I was fortunate to meet wonderful yoga and Vipassana teachers who convinced me that I was on a good path. I made a decision then..

In 2018 I found myself in India on a yoga teacher training course. It gave me a strong foundation but still something was missing. Heart. Without intimacy there can be no yoga. And so I continued on, searching for the key I knew was out there. I made meditation retreats with teachers, and met countless yogis, hermits and spiritual seekers. I even had lunch with HH The Dalai Lama!

Then in February 2019 I joined Mark Whitwell on his training course in Bali. Here I was to receive the direct transmission of Yoga, as passed on through the Ancient Vedic Tradition. I had found my teacher.

Now I travel to share Heart of Yoga wherever I go. For life is happening right now, in this very moment. We are not seperate from nature, but are in perfect, living breathing harmony with it…

No struggle, no seeking. Just love.
Nature washes over me, roaring.
The stresses of the past,
The torrents of the future,
Undercurrents of turmoil
Cleansed by the breath.
The natural flow,
Rise and fall.
No need for more.
We are nature.
We are life.
We are love

I met hermits in the Himalayas
I had lunch with His Holiness the Dalai Lama…

And spent 20 days walking on a peace pilgrimage with Thai Monks in the Himalayas…

Where will life take me next?

I am open to whatever comes…
